Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You agree to have x-rays and CT scans before and after surgery.
  • You do not smoke more than 10 cigarettes per day.
  • You do not have a history of heavy alcohol use (more than 2 drinks a day for women or 3 for men).
  • You have not had cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation) in the last 6 months, or ever had radiation to your head or neck.
