Ultrasound for sickle cell pain crises

Who can take part

  • You have sickle cell disease and are having a severe pain crisis (vaso-occlusive crisis) that needs hospital care.
  • You are willing to take part in the study.
  • You are not under legal guardianship or in a situation where you cannot freely consent.
  • Your current crisis is not a primary acute chest syndrome (it should start after a pain crisis).
  • You do not have lung conditions that could interfere with the ultrasound, such as a removed lung (pneumonectomy) or pulmonary fibrosis.
