Who can take part

  • You are between 40 and 70 years old
  • You have had a stroke that caused weakness on one side of your body (hemiplegia), either from a bleed or a clot
  • You can stand on your own for at least 2 minutes without help from another person
  • You are able to participate in thinking and memory tests and score 24 or higher on a standard test (Mini-Mental State Exam)
  • You do not have severe arm pain (rated less than 4 out of 10) and you do not have high muscle tightness (spasticity) in any arm joint (rated below 2 on a special scale)
  • You are not currently in another rehabilitation program and you can give your consent to join
