Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have heart disease and are scheduled for surgery that is not an emergency.
  • You are at high risk for brain complications after surgery, either because you had a stroke before or because you have significant narrowing in the arteries of your head or neck.
  • You are willing to follow the study plan and give written permission (informed consent).
