This trial is studying different treatments for people who have conditions that affect both the heart and brain, or who have had a stroke or other brain blood vessel problem after heart surgery. The goal is to find out which treatments work best and see what factors affect the results.

Silent brain infarct and cognitive decline after heart surgery

This trial tests a bundle of interventions to prevent silent brain infarctions (small 'silent' strokes) and thinking problems after heart or blood vessel surgery with a heart-lung machine. If you are 60 or older and having such surgery, this study may help protect your brain health.

NCT03788512Recruiting
Registry study for recent stroke/TIA with heart artery disease

This study enrolls people who recently had an ischemic stroke or a TIA (a “mini-stroke”) and also have evidence of narrowed heart arteries. It collects information to better understand how brain and heart artery disease occur together and may guide future care.

Triage approach for certain strokes from blocked large brain arteries

This trial studies a way to sort and treat people with a specific type of acute ischemic stroke (caused by a blockage in a large brain artery). It may help doctors choose the best next steps—either a procedure or medication—faster and more appropriately.
