Brain Recovery Study After Surgery in Older Adults

Who can take part

  • You are between 65 and 90 years old
  • You have mild-to-moderate memory or thinking concerns before surgery (screened by a short test)
  • You are scheduled for planned surgery (not emergency) lasting more than 1 hour, not on the heart or brain
  • You will need pain medication through an IV pump that you can control after surgery
  • You do not have a history of schizophrenia, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, or brain injury/surgery
  • You do not have metal implants in your brain, spine, or inner ear, and your skin on your head is healthy
