Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You had a sudden brain bleed within the last 24 hours before your first CT scan.
  • The bleed is spontaneous (not caused by a tumor, aneurysm, or other known cause).
  • The clot in the fluid spaces of your brain is larger than 20 milliliters and is blocking the flow of fluid.
  • You have a drain placed in the fluid space of your brain (external ventricular drain) before joining the study.
  • Your blood pressure is stable (below 180 mmHg) for at least 6 hours before enrollment.
  • You have not taken blood thinners (like warfarin, dabigatran, rivaroxaban, or clopidogrel) in the past week (aspirin is okay).
