Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a bleed in the upper part of your brain (not near the deep center) that is smaller than 40 mL and is still growing quickly.
  • Your symptoms started within the last 2 hours, and you can be treated at the hospital within that time.
  • Your top blood pressure number (systolic) is at least 150 but less than 220, and you have had at least two readings 2 minutes apart.
  • You have moderate to severe symptoms (a stroke scale score of 8 or more, or weakness in one arm or leg).
  • You are not on blood thinners and do not have any bleeding disorders or other conditions that would make the study unsafe for you.
