Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with insomnia (trouble sleeping at least 3 nights a week for 3 months or more) and scored 15 or higher on a sleep questionnaire.
  • You are between the ages of 40 and 65.
  • You are not having untreated moderate-severe sleep apnea, or if you have sleep apnea it is being treated effectively.
  • You are not currently taking certain medications (like specific sleep aids, antidepressants, stimulants, or opioids) and can stop them for at least 2 weeks before the trial.
  • You have no history of suicide attempts or current suicidal thoughts, and no untreated serious mental health conditions or other sleep disorders like narcolepsy.
