Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You are scheduled for a total knee replacement under spinal anesthesia.
  • You are in generally good health (ASA I or II status).
  • You are not pregnant, not obese (BMI 30 or less), and have no bleeding problems.
  • You are not allergic to local anesthetics or dexmedetomidine.
  • You are not currently taking long-term pain or sedative medications.
