Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and in the ICU with a severity score (APACHE II) above 8.
- You are either breathing on your own (with or without oxygen) or have been on a breathing machine for more than 24 hours.
- You have no history of chest surgery or chest injury (like broken ribs or a collapsed lung).
- You are not pregnant.
- You do not need a special type of high-frequency ventilator.
