Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You have a BMI of 33 or higher (morbid obesity)
- You are currently on a breathing machine (ventilator) in the hospital for any reason
- Your doctors expect you to need the ventilator for at least 6 hours
- Your heart is stable with adequate blood pressure (no severe shock)
- You do not have a collapsed lung, severe brain injury, or recent heart/chest surgery
