Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have a spontaneous (not caused by injury) bleed in an area deep in the brain called the basal ganglia, confirmed by CT scan.
  • The bleed happened within the last 24 hours and the amount of bleeding is between 30 and 80 ml.
  • Your stroke symptoms are noticeable (NIHSS score of 6 or higher) and your level of consciousness is moderately affected (GCS score between 5 and 14).
  • You have not had any recent brain hemorrhage surgery, do not have certain blood clotting problems, and are not on strong blood thinners.
