Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have a sudden brain bleed (intracerebral hemorrhage) in the brain’s upper parts (not the brainstem).
  • The bleed size is at least 20 mL on the scan, or smaller but getting worse with brain bleeding expansion (doctors use set volume rules).
  • Surgery must be able to start within 8 hours from the last time you were known well (or within 8 hours of waking up with symptoms).
  • Your neurologic symptoms are moderate to severe (NIHSS score 6 or higher).
  • Before the bleed, you were mostly independent (pre-stroke mRS 0–3).
  • A CT angiogram (CTA) or MRI angiogram (MRA) finds no hidden blood-vessel problem causing the bleed.
