Who can take part
- You are 18 to 80 years old.
- You had a stroke or mini-stroke (TIA) in the past 6 months from a narrowed artery in your brain.
- The narrowed artery is in a major brain blood vessel, like the internal carotid, middle cerebral, vertebral, or basilar artery.
- The blockage is 70% to 99% (measured by a special X-ray) and caused symptoms even with blood thinners, or your brain isn't getting enough blood flow.
- You have at least one risk factor for heart or blood vessel disease, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, or obesity.
- You are not currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or have other serious health issues that make stenting unsafe.
