Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (cancer that has spread beyond one lung).
- You have never received any systemic treatment (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted pills) for this stage of cancer.
- If you had radiation for earlier-stage disease, you finished it at least 6 months ago and it is not your only remaining spot of cancer.
- You are between 18 and 75 years old, able to care for yourself (ECOG 0-1), and expected to live at least 3 more months.
- Your blood counts, kidney, liver, and heart function are within a certain healthy range; no major bleeding or clotting problems in the last few months.
- You do not have active brain metastases that cause symptoms, or if you do, they have been treated and stable for at least one month without steroids or seizure meds.
