Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • Your rectal cancer is in the mid to high part of the rectum (at least 5 cm from the anal opening).
  • The cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body (stage T1-3, N0-1, M0).
  • The tumor is 10 cm or smaller.
  • You have not had other cancers before, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You are generally healthy enough for surgery (ECOG score 0-1, ASA score 1-3, and BMI 35 or less).
