- You are between 18 and 80 years old.
- Your rectal cancer is in the mid to high part of the rectum (at least 5 cm from the anal opening).
- The cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body (stage T1-3, N0-1, M0).

- You have not had other cancers before, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
