Testing a new drug for men with BRCA-related prostate cancer

This trial tests whether adding a new drug (saruparib) to standard radiation and hormone therapy can help prevent prostate cancer from spreading to other parts of the body. It is for men with high-risk prostate cancer that has a BRCA gene mutation.

Who can take part

  • You must have a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation (confirmed by a tumor tissue test).
  • Your prostate cancer must be newly diagnosed as high-risk (localized but aggressive) OR have come back after surgery with high-risk features, but it must not have spread outside the pelvis.
  • You will be receiving radiation therapy to the prostate (and possibly pelvis) along with hormone therapy (ADT) as part of your treatment plan.
  • You must be in good overall health (able to perform daily activities) and have adequate organ and bone marrow function.
  • You cannot have had previous chemotherapy (like docetaxel) or a PARP inhibitor, and you must not have a history of bleeding problems or certain heart conditions.
