Who can take part
- You must have type 2 diabetes and be taking medication for it.
- You must be scheduled for a planned coronary artery bypass surgery (not an emergency).
- Your overall health before surgery must be rated as ASA class III or IV (your doctor can tell you this).
- You must be between 40 and 85 years old.
- You cannot be taking glibenclamide or nicorandil, as these drugs can interfere with the study treatment.
