This study tests whether using a blood pressure cuff on the arm before surgery (called remote ischemic preconditioning) can help prevent confusion (delirium) after surgery. It is for older adults having planned non-cardiac surgery who are at risk for delirium.

Who can take part
- You are 50 years or older.
- You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery that is not on your heart, and you will receive general anesthesia.
- You have at least two of these risk factors for postoperative confusion: age 65 or older, higher anesthesia risk (ASA 3+), surgery lasting over 3 hours, taking more than 5 medications regularly, or symptoms of depression.
- You do NOT have significant arm problems like poor blood flow, swelling (lymphedema), recent arm surgery, injury, or skin sores.
- You have NOT had a heart attack, surgery, or brain surgery in the last month.
- You do NOT currently have confusion (delirium) or severe memory problems.
