Lasix under the skin for heart failure symptoms

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with heart failure (either type that affects pumping or filling of the heart).
  • You have signs of fluid buildup, such as leg swelling, sudden weight gain, or high levels of a heart stress marker (BNP).
  • Your doctor has decided that water pills taken by mouth aren't enough, or you need them through a vein right away.
  • You are able to use a small device (a pump) to give yourself water pills under the skin, or have a caregiver who can help.
  • You do not have severe kidney disease, electrolyte problems, or live in a place where daily care isn't possible.
