Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for non-emergency lower back surgery, with or without fusion (joining bones).
  • You are under the care of the orthopedic surgery team.
  • You do not have severe heart, liver, or kidney disease.
  • You weigh at least 50 kg (about 110 pounds).
  • You are not allergic to the numbing medicine ropivacaine.
