Hydrocephalus and inner ear fluid study

Hydrocephalus

This study looks at whether people with hydrocephalus (extra fluid in the brain) might also have a related fluid problem in the inner ear, called endolymphatic hydrops. If you have hydrocephalus and no other ear or health issues, this trial could help understand the connection.

Who can take part

  • You have been diagnosed with hydrocephalus by a neurosurgeon.
  • You do not have any history of ear diseases.
  • You do not have diabetes or high blood pressure.
  • You have not taken any medications that can harm the ears (ototoxic drugs).
  • You have no birth defects of the outer ear or ear canal.
  • You have no family history of inherited hearing loss and no history of loud noise exposure.
  • You have no other brain or nerve problems besides hydrocephalus.
