Extended-release sodium oxybate for voice spasms and tremor

Who can take part

  • You are between 21 and 80 years old.
  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of alcohol-responsive laryngeal dystonia (a voice condition that gets better with alcohol).
  • You have had a positive response to the immediate-release form of sodium oxybate (Xyrem) in a prior study.
  • You are willing to follow the study medication schedule and lifestyle rules.
  • You do not have certain health conditions like severe liver or kidney problems, heart failure, or a history of suicidal thoughts or alcohol use disorder.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and if you had botulinum toxin injections, it has been at least 3 months and you are fully symptomatic again.
