Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine (bypass)
  • You are able to receive a water pill (furosemide) through your vein within 2 days after surgery if needed
  • You are covered by French national health insurance
  • You do not have severe kidney disease (eGFR less than 60)
  • You have not been taking water pills (loop diuretics) regularly before surgery
