Inhaled isoflurane for sedation on ECMO in cardiogenic shock

Who can take part

  • You have severe heart failure that requires a heart-lung machine (ECMO), and it was started less than 24 hours ago.
  • You have a breathing tube and are receiving standard sedatives (propofol or midazolam).
  • You have been on the breathing machine for less than 48 hours.
  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You do not have certain heart rhythm problems, severe liver disease, or allergies to the study drugs.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
