Who can take part

  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You are in the intensive care unit for a severe head injury.
  • You have been on at least two different IV sedatives for over 24 hours and still need sedation.
  • You have not had a surgery where part of your skull was removed to relieve pressure.
  • You and your family have no history of a rare reaction to anesthesia called malignant hyperthermia.
