Who can take part
- Your baby must be very low birth weight (under 1500 grams, or about 3.3 pounds).
- Your baby must be in a participating neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Canada.
- Your baby must have been diagnosed with ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) by their doctor.
- Your baby cannot have major birth defects (like serious heart or brain problems).
- Your baby cannot be in a critically poor condition (near death) when first admitted to the NICU.
