Who can take part

  • You have had a stroke (cerebral infarction) within the last 30 days, confirmed by a brain scan.
  • You have been on a breathing machine for at least 24 hours.
  • You do not have any damaged diaphragm nerves or muscles that cannot be fixed.
  • You do not have a pacemaker.
