  • You are 18 or older
  • You have new breathing problems that started within the last 2 weeks
  • You are currently on a ventilator in the ICU
  • Your blood oxygen levels are low despite breathing support
  • You are expected to need the ventilator for at least 2 more days
  • You do not have certain other lung or nerve conditions
