Who can take part

  • You are a woman between 40 and 65 years old.
  • Your handgrip strength in your dominant hand is greater than 16 kilograms (about 35 pounds).
  • You have no personal or family history of blood clots and are not on blood-thinning medication.
  • You do not have diseases like multiple sclerosis, diabetes, arthritis, or bone thinning (osteoporosis).
  • You have not done upper-body resistance training in the last 6 months and are willing to avoid it during the study.
