  • You are 60 years or older.
  • You have a broken hip (femoral neck, intertrochanteric, or subtrochanteric area) from a low-energy fall, like tripping at home.
  • You had surgery within 3 days of your injury.
  • You were able to walk on your own before the fracture.
  • You do not have diabetes, kidney disease, or certain other serious health problems.
