Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are scheduled for back surgery on your lower spine (like decompression or fusion).
  • You are generally in good health or have mild to moderate health issues (ASA I–III).
  • You weigh at least 50 kg (about 110 pounds).
  • You are not allergic to the study medicines (ropivacaine, dexamethasone, or dexmedetomidine).
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
