Who can take part
- You must be 18 years or older.
- You had your first ischemic stroke (a clot-caused stroke) in the last 12 months, confirmed by a CT or MRI scan.
- Your stroke type is one of these: cardioembolic (from the heart), lacunar (small vessel), atherosclerotic (plaque), or undetermined with multiple causes.
- You are able to walk without help from another person (you may use a cane or walker).
- You do not have metal in your body or severe claustrophobia that prevents an MRI.
- You are willing to join follow-up visits and give consent.
