Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 89 years old
  • You had a mild ischemic stroke or a high-risk TIA
  • You arrived at UAB main hospital within 66 hours of your last known well time
  • You are not on blood thinners (anticoagulants) before your stroke
  • You did not receive clot-busting medicine (IV tPA) or mechanical clot removal
  • Your stroke is not caused by atrial fibrillation, valve disease, a known blood clotting disorder, or a large artery blockage of 50% or more
