Study genetic and environmental risks for brain bleeding stroke

This study looks at how genes and life factors may contribute to a type of stroke caused by bleeding in the brain. You may be eligible if you’ve had a spontaneous (not caused by injury or infection) brain bleed and can complete consent, interviews, blood pressure checks, and a DNA sample.

Who can take part

  • You are age 18 or older.
  • You live in the study area for at least 6 months (or longer).
  • Your brain bleed was spontaneous (not from a clear external cause).
  • The bleeding was not caused by trauma (injury), a brain tumor or spread to the brain, or an infection.
  • You (or your legal representative) can consent and take part in an interview, blood pressure checks, and a DNA (blood) sample.
