  • You are having elective surgery to create or improve a fistula in your arm
  • You have agreed to participate and signed a consent form
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners
  • You do not have a severe blood vessel disease in your arm
  • You are not allergic to local numbing medications
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or lower
