Who can take part

  • You are having a coronary stent placed (a cobalt-chromium everolimus-eluting stent) for stable angina (chest pain that comes on with activity and goes away with rest).
  • You must be at least 19 years old and willing to follow the study schedule and give written permission (informed consent).
  • You cannot have had a recent heart attack or unstable angina (sudden chest pain that feels new or worse).
  • You cannot have any medical reason that prevents you from taking blood thinners or having a special camera test called OCT (optical coherence tomography).
  • The artery being treated must not be too severely blocked, heavily calcified (hardened), or too twisted for the doctor to safely place the stent.
  • You cannot already have a stent in the same spot that is being treated.
