Who can take part

  • You must be between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You must have a blood cancer like leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, or severe aplastic anemia.
  • Your infection-fighting white cells (neutrophils) must be very low at the start of the study or expected to drop soon.
  • You must have a fever (temperature at least 100.9°F by mouth, or 100.4°F under the arm for over an hour).
  • You must be able to take care of yourself (ECOG score 0-2).
  • Your doctor must be planning to treat your fever with a specific antibiotic called ceftazidime-avibactam.
