This study tests whether listening to familiar songs can increase awareness in children with disorders of consciousness after a severe brain injury. Your child may be eligible if they are in a low-responsive state and you can give consent.

Who can take part

  • Your child has a severe brain injury, like a coma or major brain damage seen on scans.
  • Your child has a disorder of consciousness, meaning they have very low awareness or response.
  • You, as the legal guardian, can give permission for your child to take part.
  • Your child does not have a severe hearing loss that was present before the injury or caused by the injury.
  • Your child's brain injury is not expected to be fatal or caused by abuse.
