Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have symptoms of a stroke, like sudden weakness in your arm or face, trouble speaking, or numbness.
  • You can get to the hospital within 3 hours of when symptoms started or you were last seen well.
  • Your systolic blood pressure (top number) is 150 mm Hg or higher.
  • You are not in a coma or unconscious.
  • You do not have other serious illnesses like cancer, severe heart failure, or dementia that make daily tasks hard.
  • You have not had a recent head injury or seizure.
  • Your blood sugar is not too low (above 4.0 mmol/L).
