Who can take part
- You must be 60 years old or older.
- You must be in the intensive care unit (ICU) after a surgery that was not on your heart.
- You must have moderate to severe pain (score of 5 or more on a 0-10 pain scale).
- You cannot have Parkinson's, epilepsy, schizophrenia, or severe muscle weakness (myasthenia gravis).
- You cannot have dementia or other conditions that would make it hard to assess confusion.
- You must not have had surgery on your brain (intracranial surgery).
