Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You are having a non-emergency robot-assisted surgery on your belly or pelvis.
  • Your surgery is expected to last at least 2 hours.
  • You will have general anesthesia and be woken up right after surgery.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You do not already have a breathing tube or tracheostomy.
  • You can safely have a small pressure monitor placed in your esophagus or a belt around your chest to track breathing.
