Who can take part

  • You had a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel (ischemic stroke).
  • You were admitted to the hospital within 7 days after your stroke started.
  • You or your family signed a form agreeing to be in the study.
  • You do not have a history of depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder.
  • You are not confused, do not have severe memory problems, and can understand and respond to questions (no severe aphasia or hearing loss).
