Platelet Changes While on ECMO Support

Cardiac FailureRespiratory Failure

Part of Heart & circulation, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.

This study looks at how blood cells called platelets change in people who are on a heart-lung machine (ECMO) in the ICU. It aims to better understand how the body responds to this support.

Lung transplant study: comparing two ECMO methods

This study compares two ways of using a heart-lung machine (ECMO) during lung transplant surgery. The goal is to see if using ECMO only when needed works as well as using it for everyone. This could help reduce risks and improve recovery.

Testing inflammation changes in people on ECMO

This study looks at inflammation during ECMO (a heart-lung bypass machine) and while people are being weaned off it. It may help doctors better understand which patients are improving safely during ECMO and when to reduce support.

Blood Clotting and Heart-Lung Support Machine Study

This study examines how blood clotting cells (platelets) behave when patients are on a heart-lung support machine called ECMO. Researchers will take small blood samples to understand if the machine affects platelet function and how to manage blood thinning medication safely.

Biomarkers and platelets in CPR patients

This trial is studying the blood biomarkers and platelet characteristics in patients who receive CPR and are then placed on a heart-lung bypass machine (ECPR). It aims to understand how these biological markers relate to patient outcomes.

Breathing and blood flow optimization during heart-lung machine support

This study looks at ways to improve breathing and blood flow in patients who are on a heart-lung machine (ECMO) for severe heart problems. It may help doctors better manage care for people in intensive care.

Bleeding, Clotting & Transfusions in COVID-19 Patients on ECMO

This study tracks bleeding, clotting problems, and blood transfusion needs in ICU patients with COVID-19 who are on a special heart-lung machine called V-V ECMO. It helps doctors understand how to better care for these very ill patients.
