Comparing corticosteroid doses in knee replacement pain relief injection

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and having knee replacement surgery for the first time on one knee due to osteoarthritis (wear and tear).
  • Your overall health is good enough for surgery based on a standard assessment (ASA class 1, 2, or 3).
  • You have not had prior surgery or infection on that knee, and you do not have other types of arthritis (like rheumatoid or septic arthritis).
  • Your knee does not have a severe bend (>30°) or severe bowing/malalignment (>30°).
  • You are not allergic to the study medicines (corticosteroids or anesthetics), you have not used strong opioids weekly for months, and you are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have well-controlled blood sugar (HbA1c <12%) and blood pressure (<170/110), and have not had a heart attack, stroke, or other major heart event in the last 6 months.
