Who can take part
- Born at 32 weeks or earlier
- Diagnosed with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) by heart ultrasound on day 3 of life
- No major chromosome or birth defects
- No serious bleeding in the brain that is getting worse
- No other heart defects besides PDA or a small hole (PFO)
- No lung blood pressure that causes blood to flow backward
- No conditions that prevent using ibuprofen (including low urine output, high creatinine, low platelets, abnormal bleeding tests, or severe gut infection)
