Who can take part

  • Your baby is born at or before 27 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.
  • Your baby is a patient in the NICU at McMaster Children's Hospital.
  • Your baby has a PDA (a heart condition) that needs treatment, based on a heart ultrasound.
  • You give permission for your baby to be in the study.
  • Your baby does not have major birth defects, serious infections, or problems with the liver or kidneys.
  • Your baby does not have any reason they cannot take ibuprofen (like severe jaundice, feeding issues, bowel problems, bleeding, or very low platelet count).
