Safety of hibernation-like therapy for acute stroke patients receiving clot removal

Acute Ischemic Stroke

This trial tests whether a combination of two medicines (chlorpromazine and promethazine) can safely induce a hibernation-like state in people having a severe stroke caused by a large clot in the front part of the brain. Participants will receive this therapy along with standard clot removal procedures to see if it helps protect the brain.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You have had a moderate to severe stroke affecting the front part of your brain, with a symptom severity score between 6 and 20.
  • You are eligible for a procedure to remove the clot (endovascular therapy) within 24 hours of stroke onset.
  • You were able to do your usual activities without help before the stroke (score of 0 or 1 on a disability scale).
  • You do not have certain medical conditions like Parkinson's disease, glaucoma, or a history of allergic reactions to the study drugs.
