This study tests whether adding lumateperone to your current antidepressant can help treat major depression that hasn't improved enough, especially if you experienced physical or sexual abuse before age 16. You'll have MRI scans and take the study drug for several weeks.

Who can take part
- You are between 21 and 70 years old
- You have major depression (without psychosis) and currently score at least 22 on a standard depression scale
- You experienced physical or sexual assault before turning 16
- You've been taking the same antidepressant for at least 6 weeks with less than 50% improvement
- You can have an MRI (no metal implants, pacemaker, etc.)
- You are not actively suicidal or at high risk for suicide
